Workaway

We are looking for adventurous European volunteers who want to experience and enjoy what the area has to offer by helping us at our campsite with a ski lift and restaurant. You should stay for at least 2 weeks to fully experience and do everything.

In exchange, you will receive accommodation, food, drinks, and even activities you can do here (we will let you experience the Swedish traditions here with us). Accommodation is in a cabin, see the photos on the website www.sportcampingakersjon.com. The showers and toilets are in a separate building.

You will come to us in the winter paradise of Sweden, where wild animals such as reindeer, elk, birds, and bears can be seen. We have beautiful evenings with clear skies and the chance to see the Northern Lights.

You will learn to work in the snow and how things are done here. Working days an hours can vary, we will discuss this later if you are interested. There will ofcourse be plenty of free time as well. Possible tasks are described below.

At the campsite, the main task is to keep the snow cleared where we cannot use the tractor. Check and maintain the service house. Cleaning/checking must be done three times a day on the days we are open. Also help people when there are issues.

At the restaurant, your main duties will be keeping the terrace free of snow, helping with preparations, and making sure everything is tidy. You will also help with washing dishes, preparing food, taking orders, and serving. The restaurant usually opens from 11 AM to 9 PM, or later for events. You can always send me questions about this.

At the ski lift, your tasks will include helping with ticket sales, assisting with equipment (e.g., skis, cross-country skis, fat bikes...), and helping with anchors. You can also help with lift maintenance and preparing the ski slopes using the grooming machine.

The accommodations are currently in cabins for 4 people, with 2 bunk beds and a small kitchen. The toilets and showers are in the service house. For more questions, feel free to contact me. It may be that with multiple volunteers, you will share the cabin with 4 people, but 2 to 3 is more than enough.

For food and drinks, we provide meals at the restaurant. You are welcome to eat with us. Let us know in advance if you have any allergies. You can drink whatever you want, except alcohol. If there is any misuse of alcohol, other rules may apply.

If possible with our partners:

  • Dog sledding
  • Ice fishing

We also have three dogs that need to be walked. Two Huskies from here in Sweden who are very friendly and love people.

Travel: If you come by car or another way, you can easily get here. If you come by plane, we will pick you up from the airport in Ostersund. Send me a DM if you're interested in staying 2 weeks or longer so we can schedule a video call to get to know eachother
